I Miss You Daddy

I Miss You, Daddy

by Jill Eisnaugle

Now that you’ve gone away
Mommy can’t pitch like you do
I wish that we could play
I finally tied my shoelace
Just like you showed me how
My team finished in third place
Daddy, I need you now.

Daddy, I think about you
When I see stars at night
My heart has turned to bright blue
Without you, nothing’s right
Mommy says that you see me
From your home in the sky
Daddy, I’ve climbed the oak tree
Hoping that you’ll say hi.

Daddy, I hope you hear me
I have so much to say
I’m as strong as I can be
Now, that you’ve gone away
Mommy says I’m the man now
But, I am just a kid
Daddy, can you show me how
To share the way you did?

Daddy, please know I love you
I miss you, every day
I miss the things we would do
Like fishing in the bay
Mommy says you are with me
You’re there to calm my fears
No one knows better than she –
But, who will dry my tears?
