Aidan Peterson’s father died suddenly at age 28 of an undetected heart defect five years ago, two weeks after his first birthday. Aidan’s mother, Amy Shumoski, suddenly faced the challenges of dealing with her own shock and grief and raising a son without a father, unlike most kids. She felt isolated and struggled to connect to people whose experiences were similar to hers; she also sought a means of providing Aidan with the companionship of other children whose fathers had passed away. |
